        Hey everyone!

Last Thursday Charlie (my ~3 year old lop) started to go into stasis. We found out he has molar tooth root eruption into his mandible (as is a common issue with lops, apparently), some spurs, and maybe the sniffles.

After a round of metacam and reglan, and antibiotics (still on them), he’s sneezing less and eating more hay than I’ve seen! I’ve only had him about six or eight weeks, he’s newly adopted! Still waiting on results from the nose culture.

Anyway, he’s also underweight slightly (1650g currently, they’d like to see him closer to 1800g since we can feel his spine a little too easily). I’ve noticed his poops now are wonderfully large and round, but also darker. (bottom row. top is his normal prior to the incident). Am I correct in assuming this is likely because I upped his pellets? (from 1/8th cup to 1/4th cup, in attempt to fatten him up). Is there a better way to put weight on him? I included a picture for reference.

        Thanks!

Hi! Glad to hear he’s ok . That sounds right about poop color changing due to changes in pellet feeding, but I’m not sure if that is the only thing that can cause the color to darken. I usually hear of poops shrinking in size when they darken, as opposed to staying the same size.
