        Hi all,

Do any of you have cats with your buns? Bentley is free roamed and we feel bad if he has to in a smaller enclosure but he does his own room which we would put him in during times we cannot supervise of course. We have no decided we will get a cat, but of course Bentley comes first so I wanted to see if anyone have cats with their buns and their experinces. Thank you.

I asked a similar question once and it seems it varies a bit between the cat and bun, but it can certainly work if you take time to do introductions and they can both have a safe space, sometimes the bun is the bully! On the other end I have a friend who is fostering 2 rabbits and owns a cat and she just keeps them separate as the buns are small and the cat seems to have a strong prey instinct, she also hasn’t put much effort into integrating them though given her situation is more temporary. Hopefully the cat and bun owners can chime in with actual personal experiences though.

I have a cat and generally have no problems with my buns, and my cat can be a bit crazy. The only time it has ever been as issue is when the bun is very easily startled or timid, or very small. I’ve had fosters like that and I just had to supervise my cat closely at first so he wouldn’t try to pounce on the bun. I also stopped giving my cat those larger stuffed toys that they grab and kick at, which helped too.

I would look into adopting an adult cat that has a mellow personality and you should be fine. 🙂

I used to have 2 cats and bunny, now only one cat but they’ve always tolerated each other ok, no restrictions for either of them.  The cat who is now gone and the bunny used to have a battle of wills of sorts, they would both sit in each others favorite spots and have stare downs, but no violence.  The bunny (frank) would sit at the top of the stairs and block the cat from getting to his favorite sun spot and he has literally not gone up the stairs since that cat died a year ago.  He and the other cat have a platonic relationship.  They don’t cuddle or anything but they can sit next to each other without feeling competitive.
