Our home ended up being attacked by ants while we were busy cleaning we hurried our bunny to our bathroom that had been previously treated with “safe for pets bug spray.” (Zevo over a week ago) My wife ended up wiping down the floor with some water then dried it in case. We placed him in the bathroom so we could safely clean up the living room where his space is. I did checks occasionally and he seemed fine and normal. One of the later checks my wife noticed one of his eyes was shut, I checked and nothing was red, everything seemed normal. Regardless I wiped them down. Come back for dinner and now he doesn’t want to eat. Hasn’t drank any water and just wants to loaf. Offered a treat and even a small slice of fruit and nothing, no interest beyond a sniff. We washed him off thinking somehow the bug spray got on him. He’s alert; we placed him on the carpet now and he’ll run around curious to the area for a short while then just stays loafed with his eye from before closed. We have a drip bottle set up on his cage but he’ll only take a sip, he sniffs his hay like he wants it but won’t eat it. We started critical care thinking GI but this isn’t any of his normal GI symptoms, no teeth grinding just loafing and eyes keep lazily closing still but he moves his head listening to us talking to him.

Vets are all closed near me but i’m scared he’s somehow been poisoned just hopeful since he’s acting somewhat normal. I truly don’t want to lose my boy, I don’t know what else to do.

Until you can seek professional veterinary care, getting him in a well ventilated environment and encouraging water and food consumption are the best measures you can do at home.

Also, unsure what “washing off” entails, but make sure you he is gently and properly dried off as baths are generally not recommended for rabbits because of their susceptibility to hypothermia: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Bathing_rabbits

I would call poison control. They should be able to give you more specific information about the toxicity of the poison you used. I’m looking at the active ingredients for the Zevo ant and roach spray and it looks to be mostly essential oils, which could cause some irritation but it’s very unlikely they would cause a systemic reaction. I agree that bathing him could cause more harm if he got too cold. Do his ears feel warm? You can place a blanket over him loosely and provide a warm bottle to cuddle.

It is possible these are unrelated things. In any case,  I would keep up supportive care overnight (keep him warm, syringe feeding, belly rubs) and get him to the vet ASAP if he doesn’t improve.

Thank you all so much for the input. He is doing much better now. He started eating and drinking early in the morning. Bowels moved and all! I have a vet appointment scheduled. I know washing bunnies is frowned upon and I made sure he was nice and dry and no cold water. My fear was poison was on his fur and he kept cleaning himself so it was only going to continue to get in his mouth.
