Possible aggression?

I’m in the process of prebonding my bunnies. I took a video of them interacting through the barrier, and I was hoping people here could help me identify if the bunnies are showing aggressive behavior. You can see Moby (the black bunny) sort of lunge towards Maby when she moves, and they both start gnawing on the cage. Are they just excited, or are they agitated?

Maby is not spayed yet, she will be in one or two months. I know that this “prebonding” will have to be restarted when she is actually fixed.

I am concerned because in a month they will be both be moving into a much smaller space, with both of them in my bedroom in separate x-pens. If they are already showing aggressive behavior I am worried that the bonding will end up a failure. Bonding just seems so stressful I almost wish I hadn’t got a second bunny, though I love them both so much I can’t imagine having to give one up.

I can’t view the video but honestly at this stage, aggression is pretty normal. That’s why pre bonding is so important – it allows the bunnies to express aggression without actually harming one another. The idea is, after pre bonding for a while, the aggression will cease. I really wouldn’t worry

I would say the white bunny is being a little aggressive, but not overly so. The black bun doesn’t really have any aggressive body language.

But, as Sarah said, aggression during prebonding is fine and expected, don’t worry about it!

Yup, I agree with S&L and Sarah… I can see the video and that answered my first question that they cant’ actually bit each other through the bars… but I also agree in that the the white bunny seems to be a lot more “Hyper” about the interaction. It doesn’t seem angry.. but more that they want to get into the other cage.

I think they have a good promise for bonding if that is the only reaction so far.

Mine are getting spayed/neutered this week – so I’ll be officially starting pre-bonding soon myself and this is what my boy is like when he’s out for his play time and can see her – he just follows her around and try’s to groom her through the small gaps in the cages haha.
