        Miilo has been with me for a little while and i have grown close to her. She is a wonderfull companion to me. She is blind in one eye and she was the first of my girl rabbits to go with the boy. Miilo was pregnant and we found blood on the ground we thought she was going to have her babies but she never did. Her stomach hurts her and i rang up the vets today and they said it will cost $220 for an x-ray because Miilo’s Babies have rotted its really sad, If the babies are rotting then she has to have surgery

          I’m really sorry about your rabbit. She must be seen by a good rabbit vet before she becomes septic. Before posting further I suggest you look over the forums guidelines. https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/a…fault.aspx

          I’ve alerted to Forum Leaders to look in on this thread and give advice.

              Yes, she needs to see a vet, this is urgent. You mention that you have 3 girls and one boy…are you planning on getting them altered? You mention about poor Milo going with the boy – we do not allow mentions of intentional breeding on our site – we are very happy to help you with your rabbits in caring for them because it does sound like you want to take good care of them but we don’t allow the topic of breeding. We advocate spaying and neutering and keeping rabbits indoors as part of the family.

                  Please keep your male separate from your other females too. Is there anyway the vet will take payments?

                    I think you should just take her to be checked out or have vet come to you. She will need attention even if xray is not done. Could your parents help you out. They really should be paying for the vet care in my opinion. It’s so difficult when how you want to care for them is different to your parents idea.

                            A rabbit is considered a “senior” at 6 years old, although if well-cared for, rabbits can live up to 10-12 years. Have you had her 6 years, or has it been longer? If she is well past that age, I would tend to agree with your parents. The surgery and recovery may be too stressful on her and even after having it done, she may continue to be sick. There is also a chance she could already have cancer.

                            Can you take her into the vet to discuss what your options are?

                              Poor Milo is in bad shape and I am so glad you’re seeing the vet right away after all. As Beka said, discussing all of the options for her with the vet, every possible scenario, is really the best way to make an informed decision on her behalf. If it’s just that she’s about 3 or 4 years old, and will have a healthy life once she has surgery which includes the spaying so this won’t happen again, then you can plan on many more years with her. But after age 6, she may not handle the surgery well depending on her overall health, so you can ask the vet her educated estimate of the percentage of recovery and quality of life post-surgery, if she comes through it. Think of putting her down as the way to end any suffering she may have from now on – if that’s the case, your parents may be right. If it’s just a way to save the expense of making her well, that’s not a good reason and vets can work with you on payment plans to pay off a bill gradually, like with a credit card, in order to do the best for her.

                              Let us know how it goes. {{{{{{{{{{Hugs to Milo and You.}}}}}}}}}}}

                                If your bunny was unable to birth her babies- that is a serious and life threatening condition- she needs to be seen ASAP as she will suffer and then die with no treatment.  The sepsis and infection will overwhelm her body- did you tell the vet that?  They should really get her in ASAP as an animal in that condition may not last another 24 hours.

                                  I’m going to move this topic to the “House Rabbit Q&A” subforum. The “Support” section is to memorialize bunnies who have passed over the bridge.
