is gonna have to get drops in his floppers twice a day and get them flushed out once a day.

We just got back from the vet. She said he has the very beginnings of an ear infection as she found a small amount of bacteria in each ear.  She gave him Surolan. Anyone ever use this? She recommended I flush his ears out once a day because they are so impacted.

He is not gonna be happy with me poking in his ears so much! Just wondering if Stormy could catch this? Obviously I will wash my hands after treating Bindi.

No, he’s not going to be happy with you fooling with his ears – ouch.

Not sure if your other buns could catch this or not, probably a question for the vet. I would imagine that alot of it has to do with having the right conditions for the bacteria to breed (the ears are great for that) depending on the bacteria.

          I’ve never used Surolan.

Yes poor me too and poor Mr. Credit Card. He’s had a rough couple of weeks! I’m just glad it’s Bindi needing ear drops and not Stormy. That little guy is impossible to do anything with! Bindi is very easy going. Most of the car ride there he just sat there washing his face and ears (he wanted to look nice for going out).

PS. Bindi’s actually a boy!!!! (A very manly boy he wanted me to add, lol.) I know Bindi is sort of a girl’s name but I had to pick something unisex and I thought it was okay for a boy too.

I hope Bindi gets better soon. Tell him not to worry about his name, my Daisy is quite the he-rabbit too. (fixed, of course). Now my Siamese boy named Katie will rip your face off if you laugh at him…..

Well he’s officialy not impressed with me. He’s being pretty good about the whole thing though.

The only problem is the vet didn’t give me anything to clean his ears she said to use a 1/2 and 1/2 of vinegar and water. It’s not working very well. If I can’t get them clean by Monday I will demand she give me or recommend something to clean his ears out so the medicine can get down in there.

The poor little guy smells like a bag of salt and vinegar chips because it’s all over him by the time I’m done with doing it.

Odd – vinegar and water? Some other forum members have recommended Oticlean that they get from their vets. Ask her about this.

OtiRinse is available from a lot of online pet med stores – it was developed for dogs but is safe for buns.  Both my vet and local shelter recommended it.

I am taking Pepper back tomorrow for her folllow-up from her ear infection.  I’ve been slacking on threatment this past week because I sprained my ankle pretty badly last Friday and it’s really hard to catch her.
