When I came home from work yesterday Aren peed four times in the house. That is so unlike her, so I thought something was up. This morning she peed 7 times outside…just over and over…so I called the vet after doing some online sleuthing and they had an opening for 12 15, so I got a urine sample from my pupper and headed off!

Well, she does have a bladder infection; poor dear…so she’s on pills 2x a day for the next little while! Argh, I wonder how she got it?

I also asked them about their spays and neuters for bunnies; $104 for a neuter and $152 for a spay. Not too bad. So it’ll be about $1000 for my 6 when the time comes!

Ask if you can get a bulk discount :~)

Those are really good prices. I would do the spays first if you can.

How old is your dog and when was she spayed? I had a female rottie who was spayed at 4 months old. She had a recessed vulva that I was told *could* have been prevented if I let her go through one heat cycle. The recessed vulva trapped little bits of urine which gave bacteria a nice place to multiply and travel back up to her bladder. It took MONTHS of Baytril to get rid of it…and even then it was recurring.

Telling someone active in dog rescue to let a dog go through a heat cycle is the exact WRONG thing to say. Especially since she didn’t have any scientific data to back that statement up. Stupid vet. I will never understand how lay people can know more about animals sometimes than vets do.

My dog also had no hip sockets and had a total hip replacement. My regular vet thinks the recessed vulva explanation I got from the internal medicine vet is crap and that she just held her bladder too long because it hurt to get up.

                Hey,

Aren got spayed around 4 months as well…and at the vet he said she was “recessed” as well, but I didn’t know exactly what he was talking about. She never went through her first heat.

I wrapped the pill in cheese and she spat it, then I put it in bread and she ate it. LOL.

i always wrap pills in a chunk of canned dog food or mince or something and chuck it at them, they catch it and swallow it straight away instead of licking it off the floor where they will likely leave the pill. So sorry to hear this!

What kinda dog do you have K&K?

Aw, poor pup. My mom’s shih-tzu gets bladder infections all the time, she’s 15 so she has a lot of problems. Mom uses a treat you can buy at the vets called “Pill Pockets”. It’s a soft little treat with a hole in it for the pill. Works really good.

Six bunnies to spay/neuter. Yikes. I have to get Olivia done in the fall. I think my vet charges about the same as yours.

Get better Aren!!! I love seeing pics of Aren with the bunnies. Those ones with the babies were amazing – what a beautiful dog! She’s like a mini mum.

im paying £35 (about $70) per bun, this is quite expensive here aswell, there were some doing it for £15 ($30) but they said to starve them so i went with the most expensive and the most trustworthy
