What is the best/easiest way to clean poopy butt?  My mini lop gets poopy butt in the late winter. It’s quite bad.  I tried to cut some off, but don’t know how to clean the part closest to her skin.  I’m afraid of cutting her.  Any advice?

You can give a butt bath. I’ve never given one so ill let those with experience chime in on how to

I’m wondering why she gets poopy butt tho, specifically in the winter? Do you increase pellets or anything at that time? If you tell us her duet, we might be able to advise how to prevent it

Bombur doesn’t get poopy butt, but he does tend to get urine caked into his fluffy bum. I usually go over it with a warm wash cloth or a wash cloth with bunny safe shampoo and then go over it with another damp cloth to make sure the soap is all out. Cornstarch was also really good with that.

I’m also curious about the poopy butt. Diet is usually the main factor in poopy butt.

you can try giving him a but bath. here’s how- first take a plastic bin with a flat bottom that is big enough for your bun to sit in comfortably. second take a cloth that you no longer use, and get it wet with warm water(but not dripping) and then place it in the bottom of the bin. then you can place your bun in the bin and let him soak on top of the cloth for a few minutes till the poop softens up. then you can wipe the exes of with a cloth. also I wouldn’t recommend using soap, as it can irritate the skin. hope I could help

Thanks all for the tips. After reading 25+ pages of forum Q&A, I know it’s her diet that causes it. It does change a little in the winter. Less greens and more pellets, she always has hay, combined with less running around in her safe yard. She is an outside bunny, no slamming please, I’m doing the best I can for her. I’ll try to give her a “butt bath” as soon as it warms up enough. I’ll “flip” her again today and see what I can get off.
Is waterless shampoo for people ok to use? I use it on my horses followed with a rinse. It does a good job of breaking down urine and dirt on them. I’m just afraid of using it so close to her “privates”.

I know I am late to the post but, I wouldn’t recommend using any shampoo, simply because It may cause irritation to the skin. Hope I could help
