My bunny recently (as of two days ago) starting pooping a lot more pellets per day than usual. I noticed it when he started pooping outside the litter box, (I guess because the litter box was so soiled.) He is still eating and behaving normally. Is this regular behavior?

It’s an effect of his great hay-eating habits. There’s nothing negative about more round “pellets”-type poop.

That he loops more outside his box could be because he’s poop-marking. This can be a reaction to sth in the environment. Have you met any other animals recently? A dog or a cat or other buns? Rabbits pick up on scents very well, and the scent of other animals can set off an urge to poop mark the territory.

Marking poops tend to be bigger than normal poop, and they can have a strong, onion-like smell.

He’s only been around me and my family, I assume he’s just consuming a lot of hay, and as long as he’s healthy I’ll just change the litter box more often, no problem!

Lots of poops is very healthy!
