Pooping at night

My little bunny only seems to poop everywhere at night. During the day she poops less and also not as scattered. When I wake up every morning I can see her poo everywhere and there’s plenty. What should I do?

When you say she’s pooping everywhere, is she in a cage or a pen or free range? Is she not pooping at all during the day? Or is she using her litter box during the day? Does she have access to hay all
day? Can you describe more what’s going on?

My bunnies are almost perfect with their litter habits (I say almost, because sometimes when they’re laying down and super comfy, they can’t always be bothered to get up and poo in the box lol) Anyway, when they jump out the litter tray, poos do go flying (it’s not their fault, well..Buttercup is dramatic) and during the day I just pick it up. Overnight tho obviously I can’t so in the morning, there’s often quite a lot of poops around. Could that be what’s happening?

I find Wick’s litter box adherence drastically declines as the night approaches. I suspect it’s because he’s all riled up from the daytime naps, so he just wants to go around his territory officially and zoom around.

It’s always good to keep reinforcing litter box habits. You may want to choose an evening where you stay up a bit to observe if it is poop-flings or actual pooping outside the litter box — your bun may have come to learn that she can poop wherever if you’re not around or when it’s dark. It may also help to provide another litter box or two around; I find Wick is less likely to travel to his hutch litter box in the evening, so he has two additional boxes out in the living room.
