My two buns have started pooping and peeing in front of the front door. All of our previous buns have done this but every time we have steam vacuumed the area, but they still do it. I can’t put a litter box there as its the only door out. I’m not sure how to stop them. I’ve tried cleaning it with pet carpet cleaner, and vinegar, also putting a front door mat there but nothing stops it. They are not spayed yet because they are too young for it yet. Any help is appreciated

I guess it’s because they can smell the outside smells, so want to mark it as their territory.

Every time you see them do it you need to pick them up and move them to their litterbox. There’s not really an easy way around it i’m afraid. In fact, every time you see them by the door, move them to their litterbox. You should also associate it with a sound, so if you can’t get there in time you can still let them know it’s bad – eg. a clap or a hiss.

It can also be because it’s the place you exit and they can’t go through. Wick still marks the blocked off office in my apartment to this day. Constant cleaning there…
