Hello! I’m sorry but I’m kinda panicking a little 😭

So I spayed my dear bunny yesterday, been around 30 hours since her procedure and she started eating and pooping around 13 hours after procedure (I fed her critical care/water with a syringe until she started to accept hay)

her poop was small but looked acceptable then returned to normal around 18 hours, stayed consistent until ~25 hours, it started to look very small and irregular in shape although she’s eating and drinking a good amount on on her own

I know it’s usual for poop to look different after spaying but I’m concerned because it started with them looking odd then healthy then returned looking odd-and worse- again ! Should I go back to the vet asap or keep monitoring?
I have a follow up visit for her scheduled in 2 days but I’m afraid she’s starting early symptoms of GI stasis! Please help!! 😢

I think you should start by calling the vet that did the spay. If they think its cause for concern they might want you to come in. Is she getting a painkiller? A bun should preferably get meloxicam (various brand names such as Metacam, Loxicom, Rheumocam) for 5 days after a spay.

ETA: Meloxicam can be hard on the stomach, it’s good to give it together with pepcid (famotidine). You could ask your vet about that, it’s a cheap OTC med.

Thank you so much Bam for your reply!

it was late when I posted this the vet was already closed and I was too scared to wait for the next day so I figured I ask here.

Thankfully around half an hour from posting this her poop improved! Not quite normal but definitely better.
In the morning I immediately contacted the vet and they reassured me it’s okay as normal for poop to fluctuate.

As for the painkillers no, the vet refused to give me any although I insisted, he said he will administer a painkiller that will still work for 2 days(?) he was so sure she won’t need any.
3rd day after her surgery now and I didn’t observe any indications she’s in pain (I’m keeping a really close eyes to her) she eats normally, wants to jump and play and even started Binkying today! I’m not sure how she managed without pain killers but I’m so extremely happy she’s recovering well

              Oh, wonderful!

She shouldnt be allowed to binky just yet though, it takes 2 weeks to fully heal from a spay. But the fact that she wants to binky is great!

Thank you! I was so afraid to take the step of spaying her but I’m so glad I did!

She is a free roam bunny so I don’t have a cage for her but I tried limiting her jumping by replacing her litter box with one with very low edges, removed any high surfaces, still she’s active and wants to play, jump and worst binky!! I don’t know how to manage her activity and I’m constantly worrying her wound healing will be affected 😥  Any recommendations?

Tomorrow is her follow up appointment! I’ll ask the vet about her excessive movement

My girl bun was the same after her spay last November. She jumped a 1 meter fence only hours after she came home. I had made the nicest post-spay enclosure for her, but she’d have none of that. For some buns its worse if you try to keep  them in a restricted area, they can get frustrated and try to gnaw through cafe bars or stsrt busying themselves with their stitches.

It seems you have made good preparations. If you see her start up the bunny 500s, maybe you could distract her in some way so she forgets about running around like a madbunny?
