Hey guys!  Long time no see.  We’ve been busy bunnies and no time for chit chatting (a shame really)

        So… Puck..

Puck is pretty good in the litter box, and has always been.  Except for some reason the couch.  He loves to pee and poop on there.  We got him fixed and it’s been pretty good.  He doesn’t really get on the couch very much.  So, we made the decision to make him free range, which has made us all a lot more happy.

But recently, it’s like his bowels explode anytime he gets on the couch (way more than before, combined.)  Pee and Poo ALL Over it.  LIke I don’t how it is possible for him to produce this much poo, especically in one go.  How do I fix this?  It seems to be his only problem really, with his litter traiing.

HOW DO I FIX IT! My couch my beautiful couch!

(though why we’re on the topic of Poo.  He seems to be over cecaling.  What can I take out his diet to stop this?  I hear that it’s over nutriention)

Couches are a very popular place for bunnies to mark. This is because the couch smells so much like us humans, but is such a comfy place for bunnies that they want to mark all over it. i would recommend putting a shower curtain or some other cover over the couch when you are not there to supervise so he doesn’t get up there. Then, just allow him on the couch when you are watching him, and if you see him start to lift his bum to mark, shoo him off the couch towards his litterbox.

Too much cecal production is usually related to diet like you mentioned. Is he getting a lot of treats? Or a lot of alfalfa? I would cut down on both treats and pellets until the cecals go back to a more normal amount. How are his poops? Are they firm and dry?

He has been getting a lot of alfafa lately. Our normal pet shop was out of good hay so I just got him seomthign he could chew on. I have cut back on his pellets quite a bit — a)to introduce more veggies b) to balance out the hay. So should I cut out one or the other completely? He’s had recent teeth problems (the were chipped and we have to moniter their growth) so they want to make sure he has enough ruffage. I don’t want to underfeed him, you know?

His pellets are round and hard (even in copious amounts). His cecal is normal as far as I can tell? He just doesn’t eat it all. He likes to grind it into my carpet.

i suspect that he needs timothy instead of alfalfa. is there another pet store nearby where you can buy some? my late bun baby used to over-produce cecals and it completely stopped when i found farm timothy hay that she loved. she ate it up liike crazy and i never saw a squished cecal again.

For some reason in my area, good hay is so hard to find. Local pet shops are way into the alfalfa. So, as a backup, when I can’t find any, I just use the alfalfa for a few days until I can head to the pet shop with the “real” hay. The problem of course, is that its a 45 minute drive to my faithful (less expensive) pet store and I have been working late and unable to make the drive. It’s bogus, yes, but what we have to do unfortunately. I’m heading there tonight, I’ll just stock up as much as possible.

If he’s a 1.5 kilos and about 8mths old, how much can I reduce the pellets to and how much should I up his veggies to to also help combat the attack of the cecals?
