How often do you bunnies use the litter box? Just curious how well all rabbits do.
Moose is immaculate. Doesn’t poop or pee outside his box, just the occasional flung poo lands out of it when he jumps out.
Smudge is also immaculate.
Monkey has been marking with poops due to Squirrel running around. The apartment is Hers. lol.
Squirrel pees only in the box, still learning to poop there. Ahh well. He’s only 5 months old, not neutered yet after all.
Houdini is great with his litterbox….until you give him hay. He poops everywhere, but still the majority of poops is in his litterbox.
Keep the hay in the litter box then ![]()
Arthur was perfect, until he became a teen. UGH! And it’s mostly protesting poops. Last night he was hanging on the couch with me and I ended up lying down and he proceeded to groom every inch of my head (even my eyes!) and proceeded to “claim the couch” via urine. I couldn’t get too mad though, he was so happy and relaxed!
Minnie has perfect litter box habits. Maddie on the other hand pees outside the litter pan half the time and always poops outside the litter pan but I dont blame her. Shes old and lazy. Too lazy to get to the litter pan all the time.
Both buns of mine live together so it’s hard to say who is the culprit, most likely both of them. But they do poop out of the box sometimes. Usually it’s right outside of it though. They rarely pee on the floor either.
Tait used to have perfect litter habits, then puberty hit :'( now I’m just counting down the days to his neuter.
We finally made it over the hump with Momo, now that she is 10 months old. She would be perfect if she just kept the litter in the box. She is a digger. I have resorted to putting in just enough litter to get through the day, and frequent cleaning.
OH poop.. I forgot to press most of the time. Chacha LOVES to jump out and flying poos come with it.
I have hay in the box, and sometimes she’ll sit outside the box and eat the hay.. and will start pooping. Hey, at least she associates hay eating with poop.. not a problem here ![]()
Otto is perfect – only the occasional poo that gets flung outside the box.
Hannah isn’t quite perfect. If there is hay on the floor around the litter boxes she’ll pee on it and she can’t hold herself back from peeing on any bed I’ve given her. She never pees in our living room or anywhere but her own area, so I don’t mind too much.

Arduina does the same thing! I’ve seen her jump out of the litterbox so suddendly (to run to the gate to see me ususally) that poops will fly all the way across the room! They [the poops] originate in the litterbox, so its still under good habits
.
Powder is mostly good about it – he’ll place a few droppings outside his litter box to mark it as “his” but 99% of the time everything goes in the box. He’ll even eat, then go to the box so I don’t have to keep his hay or pellets in there. lol
Stickers is pretty good about it too – she puts a couple around her area sometimes, mainly when we spread Powder’s smell in there by walking around. She’s pretty much a perfect angel though. ![]()
Hodari is excellent. Sometimes she pees over the edge because she doesn’t pay attention to where her butt is exactly. Ha, ha. But otherwise I have no complaints. I don’t mind the three or four stray poos that get kicked out, and the one she always leaves in her little bed that is kind of a place holder, I reckon, just to say: “This bed is mine.” It’s kind of cute, actually…
Suger is good at using the litter box and will always use it.
Vivian is excellent as well. The only poos that are outside of her box are when she jumps out and they fly out. But that’s only one or two a day. She pees in her box 100% of the time.
My two buns always pee and deposit a huge mound of poops in their litterboxes, but leave poops at random all over their pens. It’s not a hassle to me though, since poops dry and are like little fertilizer balls and in time I can sweep them up. I’m just grateful they confine all their pee to their litterboxes.

Lashkay, you just have those two buns? Are they bonded? Because those sound like territorial poos.
I just went to the bunny sanctuary around here on Friday and helped clean litterboxes and such. The bunnies for the most part used the litter boxes, but there was poop everywhere, either territiorial or ‘flying poos” (kicked out). There was the occational pee outside the litterbox that looked like they just missed the box. Keeping up with cleaning is hard when you have 50+ bunnies all in one room. I was nervous last year when we brought Leo home from there, but he turned out to be a perfect angel
. Although, I think Leo and mostly Arduina could smell something was up.. as Arduina peed&pooed right by the door where my shoes (the ones I wore to the bunny sanctuary) were tucked away. I guess I have to keep my shoes outside from now on..
Bunny is perfect, she never goes out. And if she’s upstairs on the couch with us and she has to potty, she comes over to me and digs on my tummy so I take her down; if I’m not paying attention, she’ll pee (never on me) but then I can tell she feels guilty; even though it’s my fault.
Jack won’t pee or poo out of the cage. But he will make a nice little pile of poos RIGHT NEXT TO the litter box occasionaly. I think he does it to irk me
And the bed. He will pee in my bed. Buttface.
I’m pretty content with their habits though
Even if talking abou them makes me ralize that they may not be perfect angels. ![]()
My male, Mr. Bunny, had perfect litterbox habits until I got Ms. Rabbit. Since the day I brought her home, he’s insisted on having a few poops in every corner of the room (his territory) at all times. Ms. Rabbit’s litterbox habits have never been perfect, but she’s always made about 90% of her poop and 100% of her pee in the litterbox – although she occasionally “dribbles” on the carpet. Since I started volunteering at the HRS shelter, Mr. Bunny has started peeing on all of his favorite toys and parts of the rug…needless to say, I’m not very happy with that! (Nature’s Miracle is a godsend!)
Even with the poop and pee marking, I’d say that over 95% of it ends up in their litterbox. The rest is easy enough to clean up with a vacuum and some Nature’s Miracle. (Did I mention how much I LOVE that stuff?)
My bunnies are very young so are still learning with the litterbox, but have yet to have a pee accident while out playing in the family room.
Wilbur is 100% potty trained, she’s 10 weeks old (I’ve had her since Monday) and this has only been for a couple days now but she is allowed to freely run around the house (well a couple rooms) because of this *hoping it stays that way* Peeing has never been a problem, except for when Wilbur has access to a towel or blanket, so I can’t bring her on the bed…but then again, she’s a baby. My past bunny wasn’t as good about the litterbox
Both Dustor and Petie are fool-proof when it comes to peeing in their litterbox, they’re immaculate. They each leave a mountain of poops in their litterbox but drop random poops all over their pens. Dustor leaves a quantity of poops in his fleece bed and on his elevated cot.
