Luna’s ear infection check-up was today and she has lost half a pound within the last week
. She’s at 4.4 lbs; her normal weight is 4.12 lbs. I did notice that she has been eating 10-15% less of her hay, so I thought she would weigh only a little bit less than usual, but not half a pound. It’s scary that she has lost so much weight in such a short period of time. She’s now on new meds-Baytril ear drops and some eye drops-so I hope it turns things around. Please send her some vibes.
Poor Luna, wishing her all the best and hoping for a speedy recovery!
(((((Luna)))))
Get well now, girl, and please eat.
Healthy vibes for Luna! Get well soon.
Get well Luna!!! Stop scaring your mum ![]()
Luna, this is Lancelot. Sometimes my ears bother me too. Please eat so u can fight off the ear monsters.
(((Luna!))))
Get well soon lovely girl!
Sending lots of love and hugs to Luna – feel better soon!
Poor sweetheart
(((Luna))) Chewie says, please nomnomnom. ![]()
Get well ((Luna)) you can do it! Get eating all of that yummy hay.
((((( Luna )))))
Do you access to Fibafirst sticks? Mine aren’t big hay eaters but they jump on those!!!
Luna thanks you all for the vibes
. She’s still not demolishing her hay like she usually does, but she’s at least nibbling throughout the day so at least she’s keeping her gut moving. I picked up a food scale today so I can accurately track her weight. I’m cutting out veggies for now and tomorrow I’m going to pick up some alfalfa. She’s never had it before, so it should be interesting. Hopefully it will help give her a push in the right direction.
Vienna – The Fibafirst sticks are a great idea! But I looked for them and can only get them through amazon and none were prime shipping so it would take at least a week to arrive.

Oh no, poor little bun! Hugs and love xx
I’m late but sending many {{{vibes}}} over for Miss Luna!
I wonder whether giving her some critical care (mixed up thick) in a bowl would help with her weight?
Is she moving around less or showing any signs of dizziness?
Do her ear drops have any anti-inflammatory pain med in them?
How’s Luna doing?
Luna. My vet sells them too…. though not at amazon prices…. but a small packet would tide you over till amazon arrived…. ![]()
Thanks again for the vibes everyone! Luna seems slightly more active today than she’s been lately, though she decided to scare the carrots out of me by napping under the bed and didn’t move when I touched her, until I shook the container of pellets! She’s eating the alfalfa hay, so I’m hoping it helps. I weighed her today and she gained half an ounce (4.45 lbs). It’s almost negligible but I’m just glad she isn’t losing weight. I haven’t seen any eye discharge anymore so the eye drops are definitely helping. There is still noticeable gunk in her ears, but much less of it in her right ear and it’s more of a thin clear/yellow than the thick dark yellow it was before.
Jerseygirl – She’s slightly less active than normal (no signs of dizziness) – she’s still been doing her “daily rounds” moving between her cage, under the bed, the room, the hallway, and the other room. Her ear drops are Baytril Otic; I’m not sure but I don’t think it has an anti-inflammatory pain med in it.
Oh good, Im glad she is doing okay.
If it’s outer ear infection, pain med might not have been necessary.
Poor little Luna – I hope the incremental weight gain continues and she’s recovers swiftly. Definitely hard to tell their weight at times under all their fur from just looking at them. Good to hear she’s keeping up her ‘routine’ ![]()
Baby steps in the right direction is worth a woot! ![]()
How is Luna doing now?
She’s good! I had to swing by the vet Friday because she had small poops and wasn’t really eating. The vet thought it was stress-related and since her ears looked great she said I could stop the ear drops. I gave her some supplemental critical care feedings until her poops returned to normal and she’s been fine since then. I’m still feeding her alfalfa with her hay to help with her weight; she gained back 3 ounces! ![]()
Glad her ears are doing well.
Hope Bindi can follow her example! He’s dealing with a stubborn infection in both ears.
Ear infections are definitely tricky, and stressful! Hopefully the Baytril Otic kicks in soon ((((Bindi))))
.
So glad to hear she is doing better! I’ve heard so much about lops and ear infections, definitely making me more paranoid about checking Thor’s ears. Probably a good thing, better safe than sorry.
(((Bindi)))
It is so cool to hear that your Luna feels good now. I wish you both a lot of lovely moments together!
Aw yay for positive steps! X
