Oh, that sounds so scary! Really, for something like this you should call an emergency vet as there really is no way for us to know. I could say it was gas, or an injury, or something scared him through a window, or he could have had a seizure, I mean there is just no way to know and if he is still acting this way, then this is an emergency.

he hasn’t done it again, he did it twice tonight but hard to tell if he was spooked, he doesn’t look injured….he is however eating which i believe is a good sign…..we plan on watching him closely over night and the next few days and if it happens again….straight to the vet……I was just wondering if anybody had encountered this before……i have read conflicting info on when rabbits run around crazy like, some say their really happy other say their stressed, i don’t think this was the happy dance though….thank you very much for the reply!!

Scary! You’d know the difference between the happy dance(Binky) and this. I think you’ve called it right, he was freaked. You can hear the heart pounding and see the eye’s bulging. Much different to binkys or Bunny 500’s. What he eating before this? Could he have choked or been bitten by something. Glad he’s better now, it’s good to watch him close because they are good at hiding illness and pain. Hope things continue to improve.

Yeah, I agree — not a binky. Plus the fact he screamed means he’s in pain or scared.  Could it be possible he was doing a binky happy dance prior and/or the Bunny 500.  and injured himself?   How long have you had him and has he done binkies(happy dance) and the bunny 500 before?

For your own reference here are some videos of a bunny 500 and Binkies since it sounds like something you have yet to fully experience (and some bunnies are just low key – so if your bunny is NOT a big “binkyer” don’t feel bad)

The fact your bunny is eating now is a good thing, and hopefully ti was just something that scared her.  I know that one of our members had a bunny that started having seizures, and of course that was scary and baffling.  I will email that member and see if she can take a look at your post and offer any input and comfort.

                Keep us updated!

Thank you all so much for your replies and help…..it is so greatly appreciated….i think he was definitely having some sort of episode, he hadn’t eaten anything prior that, besides his food in his cage….there really is nothing that could have gotten in there for him to eat……we just heard the ruckus in his cage and when we went to check on him he was kinda standing up and his body would shake and his head would go back….it was really scary and weird…..he is 5yrs old…..but he has been calm since…….it was almost like something was up with his front paws, but I don’t see anything? I gave him some bread and he ate that up…..I read another thread from this site that was really good at describing problems and it said to give some honey……I tried that but he didn’t want it….he ate two pieces of bread though?? really weird!

Honestly, i would take him to see a Vet asap, this could be the start of a ear infection, head tilt is a serious thing and if not treated right away can be fatal. Plus bunnies screaming is not something to take lightly either.

As for bread or honey, neither of those should be fed to a bunny.

I agree that the vet should look him over even if he seems better now. An examination could determine if there’s a problem internally that you can’t tell about, or if he needs a blood test. Screaming is very serious, and at his age, it could reoccur at another bad time, so if the vet figures out what’s wrong now, you might be able to prevent or treat another episode. Sounds like he was in serious discomfort.

It more that he screamed that is scary! Rabbits make noises but when they actually scream, they are in some kind of pain. Rabbits are very sensitive and can be very misleading when it comes to something being wrong. He may act okay now but I agree that it could be fatal. He needs to see a Vet asap! Good luck to you and your bunny.

Okay, I just caught that he screamed when you picked him up. It could be that he was very scared too. Still, he needs to see a vet.
