Please give me any advice… Sage is my rabbit… Sage is five months old almost 6… Sage is a house rabbit she’s never caged… She has been in perfect health up until yesterday… Sage does not want to interact. She’s favoring the left side of her face like a toothache or an ear ache.!. I’m not sure… Sage is eating, but not as much as she usually does and her poop is completely normal… do I give sage, aspirin or do I find a doctor.?. Please help us.?.

You should take her to the vet. Please don’t give any medications without direction from a rabbit savvy vet. Since she is eating and pooping it isn’t an emergency yet, but since her eating has slowed you definitely want to get her seen ASAP. It could be a dental issue or ear infection, as you suspect, or some other cause of pain.

If something seems wrong and it hasn’t resolved on its own since yesterday, then it is advised that you seek veterinary care. Especially with the weekend approaching, you don’t want to be “stuck” with a more serious situation developing when the vet office is closed.

Yes, thank you for that so I just put her on her back and did a thorough check and she has a fat lip like she has been bitten by a bug… is that something I could just give her Benadryl for to help with the swelling or is that a vet issue?

                thank you so much.!.

It’s really hard to know as we can’t see it and aren’t vets. This could be a dental abscess which needs to be treated by a vet.

You should go to a vet. Please refrain from self-diagnosing and self-medicating at home, as this can make things worse and also could then limit what a professional can actually do to help.

UPDATE: Sage is home and boing better… Dr could not tell exactly what the cause was… There is no puncture wound so she was not bit… She thought maybe it’s an abscess tooth, but dr feels she was to young for that… So she settled on, Hay… She thinks maybe Sage got poked in her mouth by a piece of hay… So I will take her off the Timothy hay, and put her on organic orchard hay, which is more softer for her…

Because it’s so hard to tell as Sage will not let us open her mouth to look… We put her on antibiotics for infection and pain medication for swelling and pain… once the swelling goes down, I can get a better look in her mouth to see what is going on… thank you all for your help today… 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹🐇
