Hello all!
I just cannot find the answer to my question online already!
I brought my two boys home on the 31st of May and they have a condo in our living room for “bed time” and free roam of the living room. This was a slow introduction of course, and they have separate pens currently as they are only babies and worry they’ll forget their bond. As both has not reached sexual maturity I let them have their free roam time together, which they love! Always cuddling at the moment.
For the first three days we did our very best to never hold the bunnies. We wouldn’t pick them up or touch them, only sit on the floor with vegetables in hands. Both ate from our hands, which we were very pleased about. And swiftly, one boy (Strawberry) was very happy to let us stroke him. We were overjoyed! Now he loves a pet and even demands grooming with his head down and loafing and doesn’t even freak out if we need to pick him up – such as vet trips!
The second boy, Fiver, is a different story. The only time I can say we ever truly got a stroke was one morning last week before we fed them their breakfast. It just makes grooming next to impossible and Fiver is always scared of us if we must touch him, and when we force him he becomes more skittish. It’s really upsetting me as I don’t want to scare the poor bun away!
We’ve been patient and we’ve tried everything such as stroking when he’s eating but truly he just hops away and we have to move the bowl for him to feel comfortable to start again. They had check ups and vaccinations Thursday last week and the vet is happy with the pair (but will need to keep an eye on the sex potentially) I just don’t know if I am over reacting! Someone put a bunny mummy at ease!!
