Hey everyone! I have decided to go with coroplast for the bottom of the c&c cage I’m making for thumper; however, I want to know if I should put grids beneath the coroplast? I need an answer asap so I can order the grids. also, i was going to do the coroplast, then fleece bedding (fleece, two layers of uhaul furniture pads, then more fleece all sewed together) (wish me luck i have no idea how to sew!!) or would it be better to buy fleece? i found some on amazon but it’s listed as guinea pig fleece lining and I didn’t know if it would be suitable for a rabbit! thank you all!!

If it’s multi-tier, I suggest putting grids for support; the coroplast will not hold on its own.

If it’s just for the bottom, I think just having it against the ground is fine.

Be warned— Cutting coroplast to fit neatly into the grids is hard work sometimes. I cut myself a lot, haha.

it’s just on the ground yes! but I should also say that it’s on carpet and my rabbit is currently not litter trained! I am working on it but I don’t think he will be by the time I finish the cage so I hope it’s all sturdy! Also, thank you for the warning! I’m a little nervous as it’s my first time building something like this but I’m excited to see my bun’s happy face at his new, improved home

A good idea could be putting a piece of cardboard under the coroplast. That’s the easiest thing I can think of, but if you want something really good, you could cut small holes in the coroplast and drill it unto a nice sheet of plywood. This is what I did with my NIC cage and it’s really sturdy.

yes, if using coroplast for levels def put grids under neath for support.

For my condo base, I have a large piece of plywood with vinyl tiles on top. I drilled holes along the edge and cable tied the grids to the base. My levels are plywood (covered with vinyl tiles, then covered with fleece), supported by wooden dowels.

For the fleece, just search for polar fleece, doesn’t need to be animal specific. I’ve found some on amazon for about $5 per yard.
