I was gone for 6 days and while my son took very good care of everyone, the condos were in dire need of cleaning, both the bunnies and the guinea pigs. I spent the whole afternoon shaking out rugs and mats, cleaning litter boxes, scrubbing the floors down, making everything nice and tidy again. I usually do a bit every night rotating around so it’s not such a major job all at one time.
I couldn’t help but notice the difference between the buns and the pigs. The bunnies were all appropriately PO’d, haughty and distainful of everything I did, all those big eyes following me with looks that could kill. Then when I was finished, they all went through and inspected the job and you could tell they were disgusted and disapproved of the entire situation and noisily slammed things around and scattered hay and pellets.
The piggies? They have a 2×5 grid pen and prefer to stay in it while I roll up the newspapers, take out the houses, towels, etc and they just have the cloroplast floor left. They follow my hands around with great interest, whistle and nudge to help. After I’m through I sit next to the pen and watch the show.
They run, popcorn, week and whistle. They have to try out and play with everything, hide under the blanket, run the perimeter and stop by the corner to visit with me. They will stretch out on the clean bedding, roll around like a dog in grass and squeak at me. They play and jump on each other like puppies, totally happy.
and the buns wonder why the piggies get the best lettuce leaves….lol
