I’ve had my 4 year old Flemish for almost a year. I just got my 2 month old lionsmane last night. They snuck into each other’s pens (somehow?!?!) and got along fine even though I was planning on letting my lionsmane Chai get bigger and neutering my Flemish before introducing them. Both unaltered and different breed and ages but got along just fine without supervision. It scared me still though. Now they’re just eager and excited to hang with each other. Should I let them at least while Chai hasn’t reached sexual maturity? 4 of Chai could fit into 1 of Frankie so I just worry about him really hurting her. Anyway! I’m super new to this website so hi!!! 😆

          Hi there!

I would just be careful because I’ve heard of so many accidental litters! I think it may be hard to tell, and once those hormones hit you could not only have an unexpected pregnancy but a big fight and with that size difference I agree it’s scary. I’ve seen some bun fights and they can really get vicious. One of mine got into the others area at night and I legit thought it might have killed the other when I first saw all the fur everywhere, it was terrifying.  I recommend keeping separate until both fixed. Hopefully since they seem to like each other now it means they will bond easy! they are super cute!

I think that’s the current plan. Although last night I woke up and little miss trouble maker was in his pen sleeping with him. So I got up, put her back and reinforced her area. Still don’t know how she keeps getting out. Frankie is scheduled for a neuter within the month and I think I’ll keep letting them have small, consistent interactions while she gets bigger and his hormones fade. But I have high hopes for their bond

Please keep them separated. Baby bonds are not true bonds and at any point they could start to fight, not to mention that rabbits can get pregnant very early, I think 8-10 weeks, so they need to be kept apart for her health. Even when your boy is neutered, he can still get her pregnant up to six weeks after the surgery.

I replied in your other thread, please absolutely keep them separated. If they are getting into each other’s areas you need to modify the area or move one into another room. The timing of sexual maturity is not exact and isn’t worth the risk.

Right now they are only interested in mating, this isn’t bonding.
