the threads yesterday made me start thinking again about my first rabbit, Stephen. i really miss him. i made so many mistakes with him that i didn’t even realize at the time. he was a very good rabbit, i hardly had any problems with him. now, i know rabbits don’t express displeasure or pain like other animals, but i like to think that he was okay, he was just bearing with me while i learned what i was doing. i guess this is my little tribute to Stephen. such a sweet bunny…
it’s so wonderful that this site (and others like the HRS sites) are available to help people, at least the ones that are interested in seeking help. many rabbit owners do a wonderful job, but may never think of visiting or joining a site like this. i’m not here because i know it all, obviously i don’t (lol…) but i’m here because of the kind folks, the encouraging words, and the opportunities to learn more about the beautiful creatures we choose to love. every day that i can make Meadow’s life (and my future rabbit’s lives) better thru education is a good day. i thank you all for that.
when looking back thru my albums, i realized i only had a few pics of Stephen (my son was just born so that’s where most of our film was directed). these are the better ones. i blew up the last pic so you can see him a bit better.
now my question… i never knew, but can anyone tell me what kind of rabbit he might have been or if he was a mixed breed… he was about 5 or 6 pounds i’d guess. i don’t think he was a dutch because he didn’t have the solid band of white. his fur was a grayish-brown with white underneath him. he was an "uppy-eared" rabbit.
