› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › PICS: Abbie & Rain and their weekend home
If the weather is nice the girls spend the weekend on the balcony, their cages are out there for when we leave the house (were scared they might still fight and with abbies fresh spay we dont want to take chances) Rain goes out during the day and Abbie out all night if were not home… were on the fourth floor so they never get very hot at all and we always have a very nice breeze, it gives them hours and hours and hours of free playtime.. our patio is fairly large so they dont mind at all
I cant find the stupid cord for the video camera so hopefully these pics will be enough ![]()
Their rooms…

I cant take a pic of the whole patio but this is half of it hahaha

Spay belly looks good! Its kinda funny colored but it IS NOT pussy or anything, the glue makes it look weird lol.. how do you like her happy trail tummy fur

Looks like they are best friends…

Rain girl

Head tilt?

“Come here girly”

And of course Abbie the super model who is the most nosey rabbit ive ever met!

and then she decided to get down lol

hi mom hi mom hi mom hi mom..

whhhaaattt i loooooove you!

I disapprove this message (she can be such a snotty little brat haaha)

ok ok im sorry.. i love you

please let me eat the carpet hahahahaha

pretty please can i have more hay

To cute (might wanna check the cage 4 that cord though)lol
i was sitting right there
she didnt get it but thanks for noticing
That Abbie is such a gorgeous girl. Love the pics. And your set up is fantastic! How does she do with those ears? Does she step on them?
she does occasionally step on them but she no longer falls over herself like she did when she was a baby. shes actually fine with the ears, they dont bother her at all lol.. they are just part of her, no different i suppose then having long hair. The girls are only outside on the weekends (in case we have a rainstorm) were never gone from home long on the weekends, during the week they get their nightly playtime in the house and are kept in their cages while were at work and during the night, it keeps my floors iside nice and clean and the patio floor clean outside because i refuse to let my girls feet get very dirty
. Its nice we get to let them spend so much time outside their cages, even though abbies spay is fresh her and rain are playing nicely. i really have high hopes they will be living together again as soon as shes healed 100%.
thanks for the compliments on her.. shes a real sweety
Is there mesh on the railing? It looked like there was on the one picture but couldn’t really tell, just wondering. I know my two daredevils would try to squeeze through the bars about the cube, not realizing that it was a four story drop lol.
I bet they love the fresh air up there!
there is screen, yes. the spaces are big enough for their heads to get through but thats why i did one row of the NIC grids. They have not showed any interest ((knock on wood)) in getting through it. They dont even walk up to the ledge to look out. If there was no screen we wouldnt let them out there lol.. i would be scared they would want to jump off.
That’s what I was thinking lol, I’d be so scared to let them out there if there wasn’t a screen. I know my two would be curious to see over the edge but a screen would definitely deter mine from pursuing the issue lol. That’d just be too much work for them haha.
lol… too much work for abbie and rain too. especially because the screen is very taught.. ![]()
that’s such a great little outside set-up. if i had something like that, i’d let mine out too, but unfortunately i don’t…
they are such beautiful buns!
thanks beka… and here i thought i was going to get flamed for leaving them outside lol Its the only time our girls get fresh air though hahahaha… when its hot out of course they dont stay outside. im working on making a wall (where the blue bin lid is) so in the event it does rain a little bit the rabbits wont get the wet draft (ya know just in case) or to at least give them a little bit of a hideaway should they want to sleep and be in the shade (ya know because the roof isnt shading anough hahaha) the condo next to us sticks out further to the east (They have the elevator in front of their unit) of us so there is no time when the sun shines directly into the patio which is great too.
That’s not the kinda outside you’d get flamed for!!! That’s totally protected. We don’t like the backyard hutch kinda setup or roaming the backyard unprotected and unsupervised. Yours is perfect!

Good!! I have always thought its more the heat then the actual protection but that makes sense too…
I think it’s kind of a combination of heat and protection. But a lot of people think that as long as it’s not too hot or too cold that it’s fine. But it’s so much more then that. It’s the protection and then in the cases of some outdoor buns it’s the interaction that they get. Yours aren’t an issue with any of that
It’s just a nice way for your buns to be able to be pampered yet still get the fresh air ![]()
thanks tucker…
Oh of course weather is an issue big time. I just meant some people allow their buns to roam the backyard unsupervised even though they are inside buns and that’s not ok. There have been too many horror stories about what kind of things can happen in an instance.
yeah, knowl, ive heard of a few horror stories both here and other forums.
so gorgeous!
ok, well the girls officially got rained out… our balcony is FLOODED almost 2 inches worth of water, the rain storm came out of nowhere, this is exactly why we dont leave the girls out there by themselves when we know were going tob e gone for several hours. Smarty girls were closest to the house and on the shelf and were 100% dry ![]()
Poor almost soggy buns.
Great Photos!!
Great setup!! Just saw this now!
lol.. the patio is dry TODAY!!! it took forever for that darn patio to dry out despite my efforts of getting water off it.. im home and they are back out there enjoying themselves, back together full time now 48+hours!!!! YES!!!
Let’s hear it for dry, happy, healthy bunny’s!
That is an AWESOME set up, I might just have to see if I can’t con the hubby into letting me put some wire or something around our deck so the buns could enjoy some fresh air from to time. Of course I live in the country and they would have to be supervised at ALL times they were out there, we have a great dane that keeps stray critters out of our yard but we have a LOT of Turkey Vultures and Hawks that fly around this area, wouldn’t want one of those boogers swooping down and grabbing one of them, in fact my Maltese (very tiny, was the runt of the litter that actually stayed small) is also watched when he is outside because since he is soooo small I have always thought he could easily be mistook for a rabbit. Now that I have 2 rabbits the bunnies are bigger than him, except for maybe the Netherland Dwarf, they are pretty close in same size.
Hmmm maybe it would just be easier for me to get an X-Pen, this way they could be outside and do a little grazing on the grass perhaps, who knows. Being as it’s fall here and we are getting into our cold season non of this will happen till probably next spring.
If you do the xpen, i would still suggest you get some hardware cloth (or even the NIC but the “chicken pen” is more rigid) cover the top of the pen.. it would take moments for a hawk or some other creature to get in there and snag up your bun (or dog for that matter) I find that when im standing over them the minutes pass so slow they wouldnt get any play time outside.. but because of our set-up they spend hours at a time outside “playing” they still come inside and run around indoors but for outdoor/overnight play, they have the whole balcony to themselves, 100% bunny proof so i sleep better knowing they arent chewing wires, arent locked up in cages and arent chewing my furniture either!
As for the weather, were opposite here, only now that things are cooling off are the girls allowed outside to play for extended periods of time.. during the summer its BRUTAL outside.. upper 90s easy, i mean at least our condo is shaded and we get a nice breeze but even then, its inhumane to leave them out there. I cant wait until the winter (were talking 50s-60s on very cold nights) when the girls can stay outside full time if i wanted them to…
double post
beautiful pictures! Love those ears! ![]()
