I recently bought orchard hay from small pet select. My bunny was soooo in love with it. She was eating it all the time. But I ran out and I got her oxbow orchard hay and she hated it… she would barely eat it. I then bought a bale of hay from a local farm and she still will barely eat it.. plus her poops don’t look as healthy as when she was eating the small pet select hay. I’m not sure what to do here… do I order small pet select hay? The only issue is that it’s so expensive… but is the best she’s ever had. Erhhggh

You could try ordering the one she likes and mixing the two slowly.

But, bunnies are very sensitive to smell, so it could be that the hay is just not great quality, and it’s not obvious to you but is obvious to her.

As you know, hay is the most important part of their diet, so it’s essential to have a hay that she will willingly eat mountains of!

I had a similar issue! Small pet select is amazing but a bit expensive. I would suggest sprinkling some dry, plain, uncooked oats over the hay. My bun goes crazy for that and it helped switch him over to a different brand of hay. He too was very fond of SPS, and didn’t like the new brand I had got. But he’s eating the new hay regularly now.

Oats are very fattening, so shouldn’t really be used as an every day thing but dried herbs and flowers have a similar effect and are better for buns
