Remember when we were talking about a small digging pool for your buns to dig in safetly?? I went to Petsmart and saw the perfect one! I didn’t catch the price though. It for pets…who’d a thought? It was big enough for bunnies to dig in but not as big big as the smaller kids pools. It is also a thicker stronger plastic! I am getting one for my bunnies! Anyway, just though I’d tell you

You must post a picture of it when you get it. What was it called, maybe it is on the Petsmart website?
My kiddy pool turned out to be excessively large for this purpose.

We had them at the shelter, we’d fill them full of hay. I think they cost $19.99

I would call it a pet pool. I am not sure exactly what they were called but the one that is in Andi’s pic is the one I saw! They are perfect size! Big enough for multiple bunnies to dig in and small enough to not swallow up thier outside area! I will call our local petsmart and ask what they are called hold on…..

Just called. They said they are just called “3 ft. Round pool” lol and they are $9.99

oh that is awsome! i am sooo picking one of those up…what would be a good thing to fill it with for digging? how about shredded paper?

I’m interested to know what you’d fill it with also.

I had thought to do something like this before using sand. I posted here but there were some concerns sand could get in eyes.  I had read somewhere (somewhere….) that you could use a combo or dirt and sand.  I even thought damp sand could work. Could either of those be a health risk though?  I let mine outdoors anyway and they scratch around in the dirt already.   I can bet mine would pee in it at some point so if it’s fill with sand/dirt, that’s not a big deal.   Today when I came home I was looking at the big amount of autumn leaves in my front yard. They smelt so fragrant and I thought that the buns would love to rustle around in them and eat a dozen too!   Thinking that could be another possible filling.  Here you can get these shell shape pools/sand pits for kids which I thought could work well.

My doe used to be a digger when a bit younger. I’ve noticed my buck will dig and scrape in a litterbox if given a chance. So I think they’d both give a diggy zone a go. It’s good to switch things up for them sometimes.

I would fill it with just plain ol’ regular dirt. I wouldn’t do sand. It could get into eyes and ears. It would stick to thier feet. I would think dirt would be safe for them. I have also heard of people using pebbles in diggy boxes. I think that would be a good idea too. Pebbles could stay pretty cool too. That shell shape is totally cute by the way!

I am getting sad thinking about giving my bunnies an outside pool to dig in….our neighbor has a dog that barks non stop when we are in our yard It would def scare my fur babies She said that she is going to find her dog a new home but I don’t know when. Some day…my buns will be bonded and have a very nice space of thier own outside to dig as much as they want

Yes, pebbles is what I’ve been thinking too. Like those small smooth river pebbles. They’d like the coolness and texture I would think.
