Was just browsing through a bunch of rabbit links and came across this free downloadable PDF of a card to carry with you.

It just announces that you own a pet if, God forbid, something should happen and you fill in who to contact for your pet’s care.

Seems like a good idea to me.

Wow..such a great idea! Good find!

When I worked as a case manager in the ER at a local hospital we would have SO many older adults come in and would have several cats or dogs and then if the discussion would come up about a nursing home because they just could not care for themselves and their kids didnt really care either ( I know..so sad and it happens way too much!) the one thing they would worry about is their animals.

Typically our nursing homes around here will not accept animals. So they would all end up being taking to whoever would take them, Humane Society or pound… so we basically took the only thing important to them and put them in a scarey place. But you know there was probably someone out there that knew these people and would have taken the animals for them.

This is the one thing people do not think about when they start increasing the amount of animals they have- who will care for them when they are gone or something horrible happens????

I know my husband would care for our buns but I think he would probably rehome one or two with his parents. I am the sole caretaker and I think my husband would be a little overwhelmed if I was gone tomorrow.

Not exactly something we all like to think about.

I put my parents’ names on it because they are the closest to where I live, know my bunny and what she needs, and while they may not be able to take her permanently, they would know who to ask next.
