Hmm, I have to think on that. I am not into mass paranoia about everything either and am quite skeptical of any sources on the internet simply because you can really find anything on the internet that says how bad or toxic something is. I am also leery because the lady that wrote that article is not a Doctor. Also, she does not list dosages. have had extensive environmental courses (my field of major) and I worked with CERCLA and TSCA (Toxic Substances and Recovery Act) quite a bit and seriously everything can be a poision, it is the dose that makes it that way. The doses that are listed as toxic for substances are for the most sensitive individuals and joe average is O.K. with them.
To be quite frank, just stepping outside, one is inundated with toxic substances like smog, ozone (good way up in the atmosphere but toxic to humans), air particles and many, many other substances that are toxic in our everyday life like carpeting, vinyl etc. As for perfume, be smart about it, if it bugs you, don’t use it. Obviously we are all individuals and we choose how to live our lives and there are options out there for individuals (like myself) that choose the more natural course and make purchases from your local health food store or "green" sections in supermarkets and if that’s your thing, go for it and if it’s not, that’s O.K. too.
As for being toxic to rabbits. Well they are one of the most sensitive creatures and really use common sense, if you spray something and it bugs them by runny eyes or sneezing, don’t use it. Often when I spray something I let it dry thoroughly and so the rabbit is not exposed to the airborne/suspended droplets and the alcohol is evaporated and simply the scent is left behind. I think it’s O.K. to use in that case but am willing to ask my vet about it when I take my two in next month for their annual check-ups and let you know what I find out.
