sooo i just posted a question but i have another penny is 10-11 weeks old and i feed her and max (1 yr old) at the same time.

however, her face isn’t nearly as filled out as max’s and i was wondering if i’m not feeding her enough. they each eat their own half and stop- sometimes pellets are left in the bowl. should penny have access to pellets 24/7?

        thanks again.

Yep, she should be on unlimited pellets until around 7 months old. They need the extra calories because they grow so much.

Her face would not be filled out as Max’s due to her young age and his breed – he just naturally has a full face.

I do recommend at her age that you provide pellets full time if you can – I know it’s hard when you have a full-grown and a baby together though. Hopefully Max is not a voracious pellet eater.

The recommended is 7 months but that doesn’t always have to be the case – some rabbit breeds mature faster than others and if she is getting unlimited hay and vegetables she doesn’t have to be on unlimited for that long.

thanks guys! she and max do have unlimited hay- oat, timothy, & orchard. and they each get about a cup of veggies 2x a day. but they always go for the pellets first probably because i haven’t switched them to the timothy hay based pellets yet so its all alfalfa. spoiled bunnies. i’m definitely going to switch them over- the oxbow bunny t bag is still in my car haha.

i will give her unlimited pellets- if max starts to get a little chunky, i’ll figure out a solution then thanks again.

Switching Max to the Basics T now will help prevent him from getting chunky. She will be fine on them now as well, so unload the car! LOL

all is well! the loooove the oxbow pellets- usually they leave the alfalfa ones behind… the transition is going well. also, max isn’t eating penny’s bowl of food- he only eats of their communal platter during feeding times. yay for success!!
