It got me thinking while I was reading another topic.  As you know, I have two buns. I give 1/4 cup of pellets that they share. The question is

How do I know that they are equally eating 1/8 cup each?  It’s very possible that one would eat more than the other. I guess it’s not a serious problem since both my buns are healthy.

I wouldn’t worry if they are healthy and getting greens and hays. Remember these are just recommended amounts and it doesn’t mean your rabbit(s) necessarily need that amount. I doubt you ever could know if they are eating other their share.

I agree, I would not worry about it too much unless the vet would like you to put one or the other on a diet. My two have separate dishes because they can’t share and they end up switching bowls half way through.

not too long ago, one of my parent’s dogs was suddenly overweight and one was suddenly underweight.  they figured out that the one was eating the other’s food.  now they feed them separately (Benny gets his dinner in the downstairs bathroom…lol…) because that’s the only way they can control who eats what.  i suppose the same could work with rabbits, feeding them separately if need be, but i’m sure as long as they’re both a healthy weight, they’re both eating.
