I’m in the process of swithing from a compressed-type pellet to a crunchy type pellet (Martin’s Little Friends).  The bunnies seem to be enjoying the crunchy just as well. Just wondering which type all you experts prefer?

I’m not familiar with the Martin’s Little Friends – is this formulated differently? I have some Kaytee Rainbow Pellets that I feed a few of my buns that is not pelleted so I’m curious about your Little Friends – I don’t see it on the Martins Mills website.

We also recently switched to Martin’s Little Friends, and all four of ours love the stuff. It seems like decent stuff, and we found a vendor that offered it for less than the previous brands we’ve used.

My buns seem to like it just as much as the compressed pellets. I’m feeding the “less active adult”. There isn’t a whole lot of variety with respect to pellets in my area, these seem like the best.

i use a brand called Supreme Science Selective Rabbit Food it is pricey compared to the other brands in my local pet stores, and i have to travel quite a way to get it as my local store is rubbish, but hey my bun is worth it

Sarita – Take a peek here at their web site: http://www.martinmills.com/littleGeneral.htm

I have not used this type of pellet however I admit I am intrigued and interested in it myself.

O.K. I’ve taken a look at the ingredients.

                  Less active:

The Fiber is good at 18%, protein is a tad high at 15% (you want 14% max), the fat is a little bit higher than I like to see at 2.5% (max you want 2%), calcium is good at 0.8% (1% max) and It is timmy based. (Edited due to error in thinking it was alfalfa based.)

                  Ultimate:

15% fiber (too low, min 18%),  16% protein, 3.5% fat, 0.8% calcium and is also alfalfa-based.

Overall I am not real impressed with it.  I wish it was a bit better and not alfalfa-based.

Scarlet Rose- the first ingredient is Timothy, doesn’t that make it TImothy based? It’s either this food or food with lots of fruit and seeds in it or mail order which I really don’t want to get into being in Canada. Or what Im feeding now which is totally alfaalfa based and I feel not as good qualilty.
