Interesting…I just came across this product.  Pelleted Hay – that is 100% hay, no binders.  Might be a possibility for those with rabbits with dental issues, or fussy hay eaters.  It is an alternative to hay, not a substitute for pellets as it is not formulated as a complete diet pellet.

I’ve tried this with no success on my rabbits – they shun them. The pellets are larger than the normal pellet food. I was so disappointed they wouldn’t eat it.

the website wouldn’t load for me… do they provide the same fiber as the long strands, and i wonder how that would benefit the teeth… with buns who have no front teeth, they have no problem eating pellets, so it might work well in that situation.

Basically they are just pelleted hay and nothing else so it’s the same fiber content. I don’t think they are meant to benefit the teeth at all since they are pelleted and that has not benefit for the teeth. I don’t think they would be easier to eat though since the pellets are larger than the regular food pellets and well, getting them to even eat them could be a challenge. I do love the idea though and I think for those rabbits who might not eat hay maybe they would go for this….

Sarita, do you remember if the pellets had that fresh hay smell? I imagine that would be lost through the steam processing.

I’ll check when I get home Jerseygirl – I have some leftover from when my I bought it. Of course it may not have a fresh anything smell at this time but I’ll give it a whiff.
