I’ve had my rabbits a month or so now – they are 10 month old males and neutered already.

They are now pretty much litter box trained inside their pen and always go in one of their two litter trays however over the past few days I have been letting them out for longer periods of time in the kitchen I have found a few pees on the floor outside the cage only when I have not been in the room.

When I see the pees I wipe them up with newspaper and put it in their litter tray in their pen and pop them into their pen but they still do it but never when I’m around.

        Any suggestions?

        Thanks

Hi! Did they have access to the kitchen before a few days ago, or not until recently? Sometimes buns will mark in areas that are new to them. Maybe put a litter tray in the kitchen when they are there and see if they still pee on the floor?

Yes they have had access to the kitchen for the last few weeks and only had one accident but today they have peed three times outside their pen and started pooing around the place too. Ive cleaned up their pee with newspaper and put that in their litter tray to try and remind them and have put them back in their pen for the night but I feel bad locking them up

Locking them up won’t help. They won’t understand. It sounds like they’re marking. Do you have a litter tray in the kitchen?

No I don’t actually as it’s a small kitchen and they’ve always went back into their pen to go. Will try adding another one today and see how I get on. Thanks!

Put a litter tray in the kitchen and came in to 2 new pees in the kitchen – doesn’t seem to have helped! They have been pooing in the litter box though which is odd! Don’t understand why! They only seem to do it when I’m not in the room too?
