My rabbit is a free range bun and he has been since I got him. Lately he has been jumping on my bed in the early morning hours and peeing! I sleep pretty hard so I rarely feel him up on my bed. Should I start caging him at night? does anyone else have this problem? I don’t want to cage him but I can’t keep washing my comforters every day! someone help!

A lot of rabbits do that. How old is he? Is he neutered? Has anything changed lately about the smell (new laundry detergent etc) ? Usually it’s marking behavior, though it can sometimes be “hey you’re ignoring me” behavior as well. Best thing is to just block him off the bed with NIC grids or baby gates or something.

he is about five months old and neutered. I actually just realized he mainly does it the night after my boyfriend stays with me. is it jealousy or is my bun trying to get rid of the scent?

I think he’s claiming you as his =) Boyfriend can go to H, this girl is mine, mine, mine!

You could cage him for a bit, then perhaps he forgets about the bed. I shut my bun off from the sofa when he started peeing in it It made him furious at first, he tried to force his way up there, but pretty soon he gave up. A few weeks later I took away the blockage and he didn’t jump up, it was like he’d forgot it ever was a possibility.

This is pretty common. Do a Forum Search for “peeing bed” and you will find lots of past threads where this issue is discussed.
