Hey! So I have had Buster for almost a year now. He is 4, and is neutered. He has had amazing litter habits since the day I got him (despite the few poops laying around.)
I moved into my student house and had him there all year, and brought him back to my boyfriend’s about a week ago. He has been in this house before, for when I come home at Christmas and Easter and such. My boyfriend and I recently took off the bed frame because it was looking a little sketchy and he liked to go under there (didn’t want him to get hurt.) Now his favourite thing is of course coming up on the bed! Which was so nice for the past few days… until about 3 nights ago he decided that it would be great to pee on EVERYTHING! It started with the comforter… so I just washed it and put it back on. Then he peed all over the sheets and pillows… and it was a LOT for such a tiny bunny. I washed them again… then last night when I went to bed, I was cuddling him and he was right near my face. All of a sudden I was like “what is this…!?” Yes, he peed right next/on me.
Then, today after my shower I went to use my towel. All of a sudden I was like oh my what’s that smell? Sure enough… he peed on my towel as well. Then, I went to put on a shirt and he had also peed on that.
What does this mean? I get that they do it to mark their territory, but I don’t understand why. I have had him for so long and it’s not like I smell any different or anything. He lived in my room at school, and he lives in me and my boyfriend’s room here. Nothing much has really changed. The only thing different would be the boy smell, and that he hasn’t really had time up on a bed before (but that doesn’t explain the towel/clothes wees.)
I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight into this? It’s getting REALLY frustrating because I like having him up and being able to cuddle him, but I’m thinking that won’t be happening anymore… Also, how can you tell when they are about to pee? (I’ve heard to put them into their litter box right away.) I know they move their tail but Buster lifts up/ moves his tail all the time. (He also doesn’t like to be picked up.) I got a shower curtain as recommended by google research, but it’s not really a permanent fix… Who wants to sleep with a shower curtain on their bed?
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
