        Hi I am new here

Ever since I switched to Oxbow western timorty hay a month ago my bunny Dexter has been pee’ing more then normal.  I have been having to change his litter 2 times a day because he fills it up so fast.  Could it be that the hay is too salty for him?  He loves it but everytime I see him eating it, right after he has to take a long drink.  Anyone else have this problem?

Increased hay consumption leads to more water consumption. This is just a natural thing. The more fiber they take in, for most buns, the more water they will drink. Which is a good thing! Fiber keeps the gut moving, water helps to hydrate. So I would not worry about the increased peeing, it is just a result from a good quality hay that your bunny likes.

What kind of litter are you using? Can you either use something more absorbent, or something cheaper so it’s not a big deal if you change it more frequently? Or if you got a larger box it could hold more and would not seem soiled as quick.

Thank you for the info   I am using Carefresh Ultra right now.  I can probably look into getting him a bigger box.
