        Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on ways of dealing with new behaviour from my 4month old buck. I am getting him neutered in a months time and up until now he has been very well behaved. He is still very good but in the last two weeks he has pee’d on my lap about 5 times and its getting quite annoying because all my clothes are getting dirty so quick now What i have been doing is just picking him up and placing him back in his cage when he does this but im just wondering do bunnies respond to negative reinforcement in that way? I know there is prob nothing i can do to stop this behaviour until he is neutered but has anyone else had to deal with this from their bunnies? He has also started dropping poops all over the couch and on my lap!!! His hormones must be really kicking in now Thanks for reading !

Neutering will help-but you know that.

Try to notice before he pees. Most bunnies will back up a bit and lift their tail. Try to see that he’s getting ready to pee, and then put him in his litter box. Make a big fuss when he pees in his box and give him a treat

The big fuss thing works too. My girlfriends bun now won’t go into the potty box unless there’s a big production. He hops to the door of the room that the box is in and then will sit there and look at you until you start the fanfare – then he heads over, hops in and does his business.

Thanks for the helpful advice I will try to look for the signs from now on but he is pretty quick in the way he does it so not sure if it will work but fingers crossed!

I have the same problem with my female… but her tail is tiny and I can’t really tell when she lifts it. She tends to pee on me when she’s cuddling and content… like she gets too comfy and lets loose…

you might want to have him out for shorter time periods… put him back in sooner. if you see him go to the box and go pee, then you can let him back out for a bit more. things should be better after the neuter.
