i have a question, does it take awhile for new bunnies get use to her new home? Sometimes i get nervous because i don’t know when she’s scared or when she happy. I let her out all the time, mostly all day. But sometimes i feel like she still kinda scared.

Does your rabbit have its own cage to call his/her own? Is she allowed to roam free over the entire house?

What type of bun is your rabbit again? Some breeds are just always kinda jumpy and timid. I have a dwarf who is almost 3yo and she is still like that. She is better but still kinds skiddish. Some rabbits are just timid by nature. Your rabbit is probably just still trying to figure out her new surroundings, getting used to the new sounds and smells and having a new owner.

There is a very cool site that teaches you how to read bunny language. Rabbits are constantly communicating thru body language and this site gives great info. It is long and has a lot info but a great resource.

          http://www.muridae.com/rabbits/rabbittalk.html

And also, like mentioned before if you havent found the website for the national House Rabbit Society (HRS) keep this link saved because it has so much valuable info. http://www.rabbit.org

          Hope this helps!

She does have a home of her own. but she not aloud to roam free around the entire house. Because my family has 2 dogs and 3 cats. She ok with all the animals except for one of the dogs. I’ve tried to decide on my own what kinda of bunny she is but I’m having no luck at all. I’m just trying to be a good owner and do what i can to make her happy.

I think it can take a while, so much so that we no longer take the buns to the “grandparents” when we go on holiday, but have to make sure the sister in law is free to flat/babybun sit., as even after having Brian the boy bun for just over a year, he’s so unsettled when we get him home again. Don’t worry, as long as you love your bun, you’ll have a happy bun. Definitely read up on bunny language and communicating no matter how mad others think you may be. You’ll learn a hell of a lot. 🙂 All sorts of weird and wonderful things that you’ll find yourself going, “Ahhh I see, Oh so that’s why..what…”

I was the exact same way when i first got my Juli – I wouldn’t even leave the house I wanted to be there if she needed anything! Then one day, you will see your little bun do a flop, and you will realize that all bunnies REALLY want is some hay, a little home to call their own, and a nice human to give them pets from time to time. Really, I think a bunny’s greatest fear is predators, so protecting them from predators gets rid of their greatest stress in life, and then they are free to sleep all day and they do

Caring about your bunny and taking care of your bunnies basic needs already makes you a stellar bunny parent, so don’t worry! As time goes by, you will learn how your bunny communicates, and what things make your bunny happies (hint: I haven’t yet met a bunny that doesn’t like getting pet on the head

Ah, only a week. Well I ditto what everyone has said. One thing though since she gets so much freedom so fast, how are her litterbox habits?

ALso, just hang out on the floor and let her approach you. Have some healthy treats and greens to offer her when she comes over. You’ll see as more time goes by, she’ll learn to trust.
