I have a shredder and was wondering if I could use the paper shreds I get from that for litter.

You can. But I would be wary of the ink getting on their paws.

I agree with LBJ10 you will have to be careful but newspapers may work 🙂

Whenever I order from chewy (edited by moderator Bam) they have lots of brown paper in their packages, and I like to shred that and use for days when I’m running out and can’t get more right away!

If you want to be really economical, pine litter is dirt cheap. You can by equine or wood stove (without accelerant) pellets for $10 and get 40 pounds of pellets. I’ve got two buns, and it lasts me a solid year.

Does shredded paper work? I’m not shredding newspaper, just the typical paper, and it would just be one box of paper shreds, then I was going to go back to their old litter. The reason I’m asking is that I have tons from work, and am trying to recycle it instead of just throwing it in the landfill. Thank you @AsrialandBombur for the litter brands you recommended, I will have to look into them 🙂

                  Thank you @LBJ10, @RabbitLover908, @Louiethebunny, and @AsrielandBombur for all responding! 🙂

That should work. It might get stinky pretty quickly and be a bit messy to clean, but overall it’s totally safe and ok. You’ll just have to clean it a bit more

Ditto, shredded paper gets soiled quickly, but it’s a quick inexpensive options for old paper or for a quick fix in between buying other types of litter too.
