I went to the pet store and was looking for papaya tablets since Boston is shedding so much and I don’t want her to get hair balls. I found papaya treats instead. Its purely dehydrated papaya, nothing else in a chewy treat form. Will this work the same?

The good news is—the pet store wasn’t selling any bunnies! =)

No, the best is hydration and fresh greens and hay. Try wetting her greens and give her plenty of grass hay.

i use the oxbow papaya tablets. i’ve never seen the right ones at the petstore. i just get them on BB. the jury is out on if it *really* makes a difference, but if nothing else it makes a good treat. no more than one or two a day tho.

like Sarita said… hay hay hay hay hay!

Are the papaya treats Sunseed? That’s what I use.

                LPT-yes they are sunseed brand.

Are you guys saying that lots of hay and watered down greens will help with hairballs? I’m confused…

fiber is the most important thing as far as hairball/stasis concerns. fiber is what keeps the track moving. the best source of that is hay of course. as far as Sarita said, hydration is good too, which is i guess where the wet veggies come in. did you read the Dana Krempels’ Stasis article Sarita posted last week?

Read this article that I posted last week on “hairballs” and it will explain everything.  It is written by a vet.
