Hey all! Since I last posted, Pandora has calmed down a lot. She is still destroying everything she can sink her teeth into, but we have done a good job of bunnyproofing I’ve been wanting to make her an NIC cage for a while now, and I finally found wire cubes at Target, so…tada!

Made a second level “shelf” for her to jump onto using the wire squares, with a dowel rod for support. Put cardboard on top for footing and a towel over that for softness (though she is already eating the cardboard off… >.<&#160. Here she is exploring it for the first time!

She went right for her food bowl lol…bunny needs to go on a diet!

Do you like?? The next thing I’d like to do is get something to cover the sides of the area under the shelf so it can be a hideout

The layout looks nice, altho I have to say the large spaced grids can be very dangerous. It isn’t recommended that you use those in areas the bunny can get to. Can you replace the 3 inch spacing with the 1.5 inch spacing?

Thanks, Pandora thinks it is cozy as well! The other day I had the door to her room open so she could come hang out with me and run around, but she chose to lay down in her condo chillin’

Hmm, I probably have enough extra grids with the small spacing for at least the bottom level and the top shelf section. She hasn’t had a problem with it yet.

That looks great.  I just started making one and mine does not look as good.  I just have the first level so far.

i prefer the look of the larger spaced grids.. it makes it look less like a prison and more like a home

th small grids make it feel so dark and closed in..

The wider grids might look nicer, but they’re not safe for small to medium sized bunnies – it’s too easy to get a head stuck in there. The small grids are much safer for the areas the bunny will try to stick her nose out of.

Yikes! I did see her stick her head through the large grids the other day. Stuck her whole head (including ears) out, and then pulled it back in just as easily (she has a small head lol). So it seems like she wouldn’t be able to get her head stuck, but I am definitely concerned about her doing this on the second level O.o I may switch those out. Thanks for the warning!

Other members have reported it’s the Target ones that would have the 2 different grids in the one box. Kinda annoying for bunny condos. You can get grids at Bed, Bath & Beyond also…..apparently.

Yes, the BB&B grids are the original smaller ones, much safer, and seem to only come in the metal color so don’t worry if you don’t see the color to match. I believe I spotted the smaller sized cube holes in sets at Walmart once. Also, the colorful ones can be ordered on line, but shipping costs more due to them being very heavy when packed together. You can attempt to avoid buying new ones if you swap the wide holes with the 2 or 4 top ones that don’t cover the platform area directly. So she can’t reach her head up far enough to go through the hole. I would feel safer with all small holes though. It’s a pain to redo, but that’s a one time project that is so worth it. Her head is small enough now, but some growth or ear position may lead to trouble and she thinks she can fit easily now so will continue after she’s grown. Sorry. Otherwise, it’s really pretty.

The thing is even if her head fits through without getting stuck, sometimes a rabbit gets bold and will try slipping a front foot through as well as the head and can get stuck that way. You just can’t predict the trouble they can get into. Better safe than sorry. I like the look of both gauges of grids, they can all look nice.

I got mine from target, and I put the smaller grids on the bottom and larger ones on top, since its only one level. Spooky is small enough right now to stick his head through the small ones, but he just goes right back in. I watched him grab a shirt though that was on the ground and try to pull it though, ha ha.
