Today I looked at pancake while he was laying flat and I saw that both of his legs are like going bold!!   There is just some hair there. Do you think it is fleas? I put him outside sometimes and put stuff on him that keeps the fleas away but does not hurt pancake. HELP!!!!!

Also, every time I clean his cage out there is always a spot of soft poo that is matted down on the blanket.  I think it is because of him laying on it right after ho poops cuz there is no soft areas like that in his litter box ( He is not 100% litter trained)

it could be mites or anything, best to get it checked out at the vet as it could really be anything and dont worry about the soft poo as long as there isnt loads of it and it is only soft it shouldnt be anything serious but you could mention it to the vet when you go

Best to get checked by a vet. The soft poos shouldn’t be happening, perhaps an overproduction of cecotropes? What’s his diet like?

it is actually just pellets and grass and water.  I always forget to give him other stuff

Pancake is missing the most important part of his diet! That is the reason for the soft poops – the one food that a bunny without a doubt needs is hay. Timothy or oat hay are the best options – but a bunnies digestive system will not be correct at all if they do not have hay. about 90% of your bunny’s diet should be hay, so you really need to give your bunny unlimited hay. The pellets should only be 1/4 cup per day, but your bunny needs to be able to eat all day which is why the hay is SO IMPORTANT!! It even may help with his litter training to correct his digestive system if you provide him the hay. The first thing that can make a bunny seriously ill is digestive tract problems, and not providing your bunny hay will definitely lead to some digestive problems. It is also important that your bunny always have timothy hay in his cage, bunnies need to be able to eat all day long to keep their digestive systems moving, so Pancake should always have hay in his cage to eat.

Thanks!! I will give him hay. I thought that grass could kinda replace it just for the summer.  What is the difference of hay and grass?

I think grass from yards has too much water and doesn’t do the job the way hay does.

Plus, you don’t know if there could be contaminants that get into your yard, which could be potentially harmful to your bun.

Hay provides your bunny with lots of fiber, as well as it helps to grind their teeth down when they eat it. It is much drier than grass, so it provides structure to their digestion, and helps keep everything moving and keeps their poops nice and firm. I would see grass as more like a vegetable that can supplement their diet, but the hay is still key to keeping them healthy. Have you been able to find timothy or oat hay to give Pancake? Anything EXCEPT alfalfa hay is good – alfalfa hay has too many calories.
