We went for Oxo’s follow up appointment today – last Monday he was given a week’s course of antibiotics and painkillers to treat bladder sludge and a secondary infection. We got to see our regular vet Rachel today (yay!) but he’s no better an she also found he had soreness around one of his kidneys as well as his bladder today. Poor little man  So he’s been kept in for the day and they going to collect urine and blood. They want to test for infection and analyse the calcium. We’ve also ordered a test for e cuniculi as the vet last week said it could be that – Rachel seemed unhappy the vet had gone straight to this option but agreed that the test should be run to put our minds at rest. Hopefully he should be home this evening or in the morning.

        Any spare vibes for Oxo?

Just had a call – they’re anaesthetising him and looking for kidney stones.  Bisto keeps looking for him as well

                    Thanks for the vibes.

He came home last night, sore and grouchy! No kidney stones thankfully but a bladder full of sludge and bacteria and one nasty kidney infection. They’ve sent his urine off to the lab and it should be back in about a week so for the meantime his baytril dose has been upped to 8ml once a day. We’ve been handed to a new vet whose specialisms included rabbits (Rachel is rabbit savvy, but not an specialist) and he convinced us to hold off on the e cuniculi test for the time being, he was reassuring that the investigations they had done so far did not suggest it at all.

So, one poorly rabbit. Here’s hoping we can get him better soon

He’s not liking the baytril K&K, we’ve had a couple of times where he’s managed to worm away for the last drops and we’ve wiped it on his paws for him to groom off – you should see the stink eye after that!

Awww poor guy, not fun at all!
Good luck for a speedy recovery.

My Ani just got over a bladder infection with sludge and she’s back to her little self, so hopefully you guy will heal up as quickly as she did.

Kidney problems are awful, so I’m glad he’s seeing a specialist.
