        Oxbow Enriched Life -Timmy Pops

        (Product link removed by Bam)

Hey everybody, I just got these for my rabbit, and I was just wondering. How safe are these for rabbits? I know they are made of timothy hay, apple sticks and rice glue. Is the rice glue harmful? Would these hurt a rabbit with some intestinal problems in the past (thankfully it’s been almost 3 months since I had a problem…)? And if I give it to him, is it something I should give in moderation or can he just eat them freely like he would hay? Not saying I’d replace the hay, I just didn’t know if it should be treated like a once-in-a-while treat or what.

I let him chew some of it before I really thought about the rice glue situation, and he really liked it, so I just thought I’d check in with people who are knowledgeable about this stuff. Thank you!

I think these are bunny safe. Rice glue is made of rice and water, and it would dissolve in the rabbit stomach. I have used sth similar for my buns.  But as with all new food  it’s recommended to start with smaller amounts -maybe let him have the timmy pop for a short time, then take it away and give it back the next day? I do that with some edible enrichment stuff. It keeps the bun interested in the item too.
