        Hey!

We have been having a ton of issues finding the 25lb bag of Oxbow pellets. With four buns, its generally the most cost efficient. Amazon used to carry it for around $35ish, but they seem to have stopped. So, I’ve been trying Chewy and Petco, but they either don’t list it/sell it or send dog food (looking at you, Petco. The return process was dumb and they didn’t even give me back the shipping fee for sending me the wrong thing).

We live near a couple of farm implement stores that carry a few different “bulk” bun foods. My question is, is there anything wrong with these? I can’t think of the brands off the top of my head, perhaps Manna Pro and Purina? And Rural King has their own brand as well.

We got a firm scolding for using these types of food from a lady at the house rabbit society a few years ago. She said they’re for “meat bunnies” and not house rabbits and recommended the Oxbow. So, we switched, but now that we can’t find the large bag very easily, these buns are gonna eat us out of house and home lol.

        Any suggestions?

You would have to look at the analysis and decide if it’s close enough to what the recommendations are. It is true that a lot of the pellets at farm stores are going to be formulated for meat or show rabbits and, therefore, have more calories, etc.

This is a pretty comprehensive list of pellet brands and their nutritional analyses: https://www.therabbithouse.com/diet/rabbit-food-comparison.asp

          Here’s another list: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Rabbit_pellets_comparison_charts

I don’t see Manna Pro on either list, but I know it contains alfalfa. As you know, alfalfa is good for growing bunnies… not so much for maintaining the weight of indoor house bunnies.

Mazuri is sold at Tractor Supply. It isn’t terrible.

              Thanks for the links!

I’m sure the buns would *love* the alfalfa, but we would have to get them all little scooters to roll their fat little selves around on lol.

I’ll keep that in mind for the Mazuri brand. 🙂
