        Hi

My 4 month old bun is close to finishing his Oxbow Young Rabbit Essentials but I saw that those have soy, so I’m trying to find a good quality pellet that doesn’t. I also don’t want pellets that have alfalfa because he LOVES alfalfa and the stops eating his timothy hay. I was checking into the Oxbow Adult Essentials and read that they also have soy. The two that I’m looking into buying are the Oxbow Organic Bounty and Oxbow Garden select. The Garden Select have a tiny bit more fiber. But what I like about the Organic bounty is that they’re organic. My bun is extremely picky, so if you know which out of the two most likely will taste better, please let me know

It’s really based on the rabbit unfortunately! From the ingredients you can kind of make an educated guess. Garden select lists Timothy as the top ingredient, so if your rabbit isn’t too keen on Oxbow Timothy, organic bounty may be a potentially more likeable option.

            Thanks Wick.

Haha it’s pretty awesome that you remembered that my Toby doesn’t really like the Oxbow timothy I may go with organic bounty, but the cons about it is that 1, it has less fiber, and 2, it has blueberries and strawberries in it. I think my bun is still too young to have fruit and I haven’t introduced strawberries or blueberries yet. Will it hurt him to eat these pellets even though they have fruit in them???

It seems to be a small amount mixed within the mix, and it’s probably oxbows way of sweetening the pellets for taste organically. The directions are standard to pellets, so I trust it’s okay to feed every day in limited quantities. Because of it though, maybe opt for Oxbow veggie treats rather than fruit treats!

Since transitioning is recommended slowly, if you see any off poops or bad reactions, slow down the transition process as your rabbit continues to develop strong gut flora.

Thank you. I’m still a bit indecisive. I feel like he would like the oxbow organic bounty better than the garden select, but I’m just worried about the fruit and low fiber in them. I like that the Garden select has timothy, oat, and orchard grass.

Anyone else? Maybe if there’s someone out there who’s tried both, please reply.

lol I guess no one has tried both because I usually get answers on this website really quickly…
I just placed an order for the Organic Bounty. They seem to be healthy pellets. I was really rooting for the Garden Select but then realized that my bun has a sweeet tooth, and the Organic Bounty have fruit in them. Fruit is definitely sweet! And I also realized that the amount of fruit they use is very minimum so I guess it’ll be fine.
