So I’ve been feeding oxbow essentials adult – but it just had a big price hike where I am … burgess tasty nuggets are half the price
How do the they compare? Is oxbow worth the extra price ?
        Which is better ?

I think Azerane feeds her buns Burgess. It’s a quality brand. I haven’t tried it myself.

The reason I’m using oxbow is simply because I’ve heard NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS from them. I use their treats (bandit loves the strawberry and bannana dried fruits) and that alone has finally gotten me the ultimate trust from bandit and he willingly comes up and jumps on me and let’s me kiss his head.

I agree it’s a bit pricy sometimes but as a call guy it’s like choosing in-and-out versus McDonald’s (In and outs better btw) and i think thr little extra cash for my baby boy is worth it.

You can also save by getting the smaller bags of pellets as my rabbit does not eat much of them except for snacks and games (4 months old now)

I switched over from Burgess to Oxbow when I found the Burgess had egg shell in it. Oxbow has much better ingredients IMO.

I’ve used both, I like both. Bandit had occasional GI issues so I switched him to Burgess as a precaution. I started Apollo and Luna on Burgess but switched to Vetafarm for cost savings. Both are very good brands, I have heard some people say that Burgess has more chance of causing mushy poops, but with the amount I fed it was never a problem.

Neither are a bad pellet, some buns just can’t tolerate one or the other, the same with any food. If it’s a lot cheaper and price is a concern for you, certainly give it a try, you can always switch back to oxbow at the end if you aren’t impressed

                  Thanks
I guess that alone gives me a concern as Oakley has a sensitive tummy ( can’t tolerate veges or herbs or even grass – he just has oxbow and hay ) so that could cause issues if it has in others …
my other concern is the mint flavour – does it have mint in it or just mint flavour? Oakley doesn’t tolerate fresh mint …

My concerns with staying on oxbow aren’t only the price ( which is twice burgess cost) but also it’s only available at one place – so if they run out before new stock arrives ( like the last two weeks they did ) if I didn’t have backup like I did I would have been stuck

The amount of mint is so tiny, it’s 1.25%. You can get other flavours too, oregano I think and possibly one other. Probably with very similar tiny amounts of herbs.

A lot of vet clinics stock oxbow, I’m not sure where you’re buying it now, but sometimes ringing around finds some options.

Nah our country only has one stockist at the moment
One for burgess and one for oxbow ..
I think I’ll stick it out for now with oxbow as I just ordered another bag but I’m def considering trying burgess and seeing how it goes … any difference in coat you noticed with yours between the brands?
My boys have really nice coats on the oxbow

There’s more crude fibre in Oxbow essentials, 25% vs 19% for Burgess.

I looked both up, Burgess doesn’t say eggshell but limestone. I don’t know if maybe they used eggshell before.
