Well Layla went to the vet on Friday and it was a great visit.  This guy really knows his stuff, so I’m quite pleased to announce that on her first vet visit ever, we were able to find a great doctor.  Incidentally, if anybody ever asks about a vet in Erie, PA, send them to me and I’ll pass on his info.

The doc said Layla is great.  His words, “She’s one of the healthiest bunnies I’ve seen in a long time!”  We talked about having her spayed in a couple of months, and he checked out her joints, said she’s good to go there too.  She weighed in at 2.7lbs.  Doc said she’s gonna be a big girl!  Anyway, I wanted to share the good news.

Oh and the vet thinks Layla is of the Dutch breed…  I looked at pictures online tonight and I’m not entirely convinced, but I think it’s harder to tell cause all the cites I saw talked about color and markings, and with Layla being albino, all of that is absent so he might be right with his guess.  Anyway, that’s the update!

PS:  I began construction of Layla’s bunny condo today as she is currently getting too big for her current living quarters..  I really didn’t expect her to grow so fast, but it’s kinda fun to see what new thing she’ll get into every day.

I’m so glad you found a great vet, he does sound like he knows his stuff.

I’ve heard of red eyed whites being Dutches, but I would suspect she is more of a Florida White or a New Zealand White – all are wonderful though so no matter what she is she will be perfect.

i think once she’s at her full-size it’ll be easier to determine what breed she might be. i’ve seen people refer to lots of bunnies as just being dutch when they clearly weren’t, but he seems to be well-versed in all things bunny! which is AWESOME!
