Our rabbits are unloving and wont play?

Me and my boyfriend adopted two rabbit brothers 2 years ago. They were very unloving towards us, and we assumed it was because it was a new place and they needed time to get used to it. We left them alone for about two weeks, and started to slowly hand feed then pellets. They began to run up to us for food, but absolutely did not like to be petted anywhere. Once the food was gone, they were back in their hiding spot.
Two years has gone by and not much has changed, one of the rabbits will come out during run time, but the other stays in his enclosure all day and refuses to come out. They still hate to be petted, and won’t play with anything.
Is this normal for the rabbits or are we doing something wrong? I feel like they hate where they are and I don’t know how to make them more comfortable

I would try to spend as much time as possible with them. You don’t have to physically interact with them at first, such as petting, but you can lay by their cage or sit on the floor when they are out. Since you say they don’t like to be petted, let them make the first move. If they come up to you and want to be petted, give them a few pets followed by a couple pellets.

Hey! I’m not alone!!! I’ve had Morgana and Avalon for about 3 years. I tried giving them their space, bribing them with fod, you name i. Recently I changed their food to twice a day, and they has had better results. They are so exited to get their pellet rations, that they let me pet them while they eat. But only while they eat… I have started clicjer traigin. I hope they can associate foor and clicker – so I can get them to come up to me with the cicker, for treats and petting, and work on our bond that way. I have heard of only one other rabbit that took years to bond with it’s human. I’m ok with it – I accept them for what they are, and work with them at whatever stge they are at. I always hope they will become cuddly with me, but if it never happens, then so be it. They still get exited when I come in with pellets/fresh hay – Avalon dances on my toes, they binky and sprint to the hay rack – we are not all blessed with cuddly bunnies. But I stil love them.
