It’s been 3 days now since we got the call from our vet…
A family visiting for the holidays found a wounded baby Netherland Dwarf in the backyard of the place they were staying. A cat had attacked the entire litter and she was the only survivor. After going around the neighborhood to verify the bunnies didn’t belong to anyone (that would confess anyway), the little girl was brought to the local VCA animal hospital where she was cared for by our vet. After our vet was sure she would recover fine she gave us a call asking if we would take her in because our house was the only one she truly new of that the bunny would get all the love and affection she deserves. Well, being that we are already a 3 bunny family, we had to discuss it a bit, but decided that she would be manageable since she will be such a small one. Our vet has offered to cover the cost of getting her spayed and her current needed care, which further helped our decision.
She is recovering fine as she only sustained a scratch to the eye area and a bite on her back leg. Seems like it was a miracle she survived with how cold it has been.
Well after just these few days, we have already fallen in love with her. She loves to cuddle and falls asleep right in our laps. She loves to groom our hands and seems to feel very secure with us there.
So now we introduce the new member of our family… Daisy May!
*eeeeep* 0_0 ![]()
What a precious baby bunny!! She’s adorable, beautiful markings too. congrats on Daisy May!
That’s so kind of you to provide her a home! and so kind of the vet to care so much about her to pay for the spay and care.![]()
Poor little thing, how can people abandon little bunnies!? ![]()
Awwww!!! Gorgeous!
What a horrible event to have happened, now this survivor’s life will improve ten-fold! Applause for you all! She’s SWEET!
Ohhh that poor lucky little bunny. Congrats on the new family member. She is gorgeous. ![]()
So good of you to take her in. Poor things probably wouldn’t have survived long outside in winter even if the cat hadn’t attacked them. Little Daisy May, she’s so lucky! And you guys are so good!
I want!!! She is SO beautiful! And she really fits in your hands!
You know..I truely believe that animals who are rescued from bad situations know and understand that they have been given a 2nd chance w/ a good family. Both my boys were rescues…Cooper abused and Hoopie was thrown out as a baby. But my boys both love to be loved on and seek us out for attention.
I think Daisy May knows she has been given a wonderful second chance and wants to make sure you guys know she appreciates you!!!
SO CUTE!! And how great of your vet to spay her for you! That’s wonderful-a truly kind vet
Oh, thank you for rescuing this little one. She’s just adorable. So sad though about the rest of the babies, but at least Daisy May survived and she has a wonderful family to care for her.
she’s beautiful!!! thank you for taking her in! i know it’s a hard decision when you already have multiple buns, but i know she’ll be so well-cared for in your home! that’s especially kind of your vet to cover the cost of spaying later on down the road!
i feel so awful for her brothers and sisters…
What a sweetheart! How sad she lost all her brothers and sisters. That’s so great you took her in, although I doubt you could have said no to that adorable little bun!
omg! a little handful of bunny! that is soooo cute – and so nice of your vet to be so kind to call you and take care of her and get her spayed! I want to pet her on the nose ![]()
This is too freaking adorable every time I click on this thread! Eeeeeee! (explodes)
To think it all started with you Bridge Bunny Flopsy and now you’re a 4 bunny family! Am I reading that right? I remember you adopted 2 more but had to look back on your previous posts….yes, that’s right, 2 lops and now Daisy May. You said “already a 3 bun family”….am I missing something? A mystery bun somewhere here?
Are you worried your vet has pegged you as THE bunny people and that there could be more coming your way? I mean, how would you say “no”?!
AAGGGHHHH, a double handful of poofy cute!!! Congrats on the new baby!
jerseygirl –
A couple months after Flopsy died we went and picked up 2 mini lops at a shelter. We were supposed to get the 2 sisters, but ended up with one sister and the brother from a mix-up since the 2 looks almost exactly the same. My wife and I agreed that after 3 weeks if the other sister was still at the shelter we would take that as a sign and pick her up too. Well she was still there and that’s how we bacame a 3 bunny family.
So now the house is in favor of the bunnies 4 to 2. Marble, Thumper, Mopsy, and Daisy May all know who rules the household… they do. ![]()
oh yeah! i think i remember that! have you posted pics recently of the whole bunch, i’m not sure if i’ve seen the 3rd sibling! (how neat that you have 3 siblings! that’s awesome that they’ll get to grow old together!) are they all getting along so far (the 3 lops)?
It’s funny how the smallest family members rule the house! It’s the same at my place! They weigh 3 pounds but they run the show, lol
Beka – The two sisters are still not getting along. Each one is fine with the brother, but it’s going to be a lot of work to get the sisters to stop fighting. Right now we just give the initial 2 running time together to keep their bond strong and then the 3rd gets her own personal running time. They are all in the same room though and even when out running they can come up to each other’s fences. A lot of the times they can lay side by side with each other with the fence between them. We just need to give them more time to establish the pecking order and hopefully all 3 can be out together finally. I don’t think I have posted a pic of the 3rd, but I will.
So odd that the mini-lops seem huge now that we have the baby netherland dwarf lol
Ha ha! I just read about Mopsy in the ESCAPE thread. I was going to scoot over here to say I’d discovered who the mystery bun was!! You’d already come thru to explain. 3 siblings, that’s great!
Wow, what a sweet little baby! She is so lucky, and doesn’t look hurt at all from the picture!
I wish you lucky with your lop bonding as well. Looks like you have a full household now!
