I have an update! We’ve finally Jax proofed other areas of our home and gradually stayed with him as he explored and got used to his new area. Now he is a free range bunny even when we are not home. He is allowed everywhere except for the closets, spare bedroom, and front entryway. I sometimes find him standing up on his hind feet scratching at the spare bedroom door lol. Little guy thinks no where should be off limits! My partner created a coffee table/den area for him in our living room so he has a safe place to hang out, sleep and eat hay (as our living room is half a floor up from our kitchen). We also placed slightly smaller litter boxes in the living room and upstairs as we read there should be a box easily accessible. Well, even though he was using the smaller boxes when we first rescued him, he has not used either of these new ones! On the plus side he has not had any accidents either (knock on wood!) and will run downstairs to the kitchen to use his litterbox. We think he’s really happy with all of his extra space
Something he likes to do sometimes in the mornings or evenings is just sprint up the full flight of stairs to our bedroom, run around our bedroom doing binkies, and then run back down the stairs. It’s hilarious to watch. He also seems curious about the air vents (which we only have floor ones upstairs) and although he doesn’t like the warm air he doesn’t seem to mind the venting room temperature air
